{"id":2026,"date":"2023-03-27T13:13:43","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T17:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/virtualvirginia.org\/?post_type=article&#038;p=2026"},"modified":"2023-10-10T11:08:42","modified_gmt":"2023-10-10T15:08:42","slug":"update-counselor","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/virtualvirginia.org\/article\/update-counselor\/","title":{"rendered":"How to update the counselor of record"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>You may update the school&#8217;s counselor of record in the VVA Genius SIS in one of two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the current counselor of record is still available to make changes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The current counselor of record must do <strong><em>both<\/em><\/strong> of the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/virtualvirginia.org\/article\/how-to-create-a-mentor-account\/\">Create a mentor account<\/a> for the new counselor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/virtualvirginia.org\/article\/how-to-update-school-affiliation-information\/\">Update the school&#8217;s affiliation page<\/a> with the new counselor&#8217;s information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email <a href=\"mailto:support@virtualva.org\">support@virtualva.org<\/a> to request that the new counselor&#8217;s role be assigned as the counselor of record for the school.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the replaced counselor of record will continue to be a user in the VVA Genius SIS, please let us know what role to reassign to that user. The replaced counselor&#8217;s account will remain active unless a <a href=\"https:\/\/virtualvirginia.org\/article\/how-to-deactivate-staff-accounts-for-a-school-affiliation\/\">deactivation request<\/a> is sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the current counselor is no longer available<\/strong> (e.g., they have left the school or retired), then the current school\/division coordinator or principal of record must email <a href=\"mailto:support@virtualva.org\">support@virtualva.org<\/a> to request a new counselor of record.
